How to prepare for DMV Exam

Age Requirements

  • Learner's Permit: Available at age 15 with completion of driver education.
  • Provisional License: Available at age 16 after holding a learner's permit for six months and meeting education requirements.

Identification Requirements

  • Primary ID: Texas residency proof, usually a birth certificate, passport, or permanent resident card.
  • Secondary ID: Social Security Number (SSN) card or similar documentation.
  • Proof of Residency: Two documents verifying Texas residency, such as utility bills or bank statements.
  • Additional Documents for Minors: If under 18, a parent/guardian’s signature, school enrollment or attendance, and completion of driver’s education are required.

  • Motorcycle License (Class M): $33 for adults or $16 if under 18.
